Brown is a county in Texas, United States. It has a population of 37,864 people as of the 2019 US Census. It is located in the west-central part of Texas. It borders several other counties. These are:  

Callahan County-Northwest 

Coleman County –West 

McCulloch County – Southwest 

San Saba County – Southeast 

Comanche County – Northeast 

The county seat of Brown County is Brownwood. It is situated in the central area of the county.

There is a restaurant where you can eat breakfast and other meals when you visit. 

Lake Brownwood State Park 

When you visit Lake Brownwood Park, you will enjoy the scenic beauty of Texas Hill Country. You can hike under the breathtaking oak trees and around the lake, or see the spectacular wildlife like birds and the white-tailed deer. You can also go swimming or row a boat. 

Brown County Museum of History 

You can visit the Brown County Museum and see photographs and artifacts on display. The collection is mainly related to World War II. Do not mind bringing your kids along; there is a kid’s zone. 

Camp Bowie 36th Division Memorial Park 

If you wish to get a glimpse of World War II, then visit the Camp Bowie 36th Division, Memorial Park. It was a military training center in Texas. In the park, you will see a range of military equipment such as tanks.   

Events in to Attend in Brown County 

Christmas under the Stars Festival-December 

The Christmas Under the Stars Festival happens in December. It starts with a parade in downtown Brownwood. Afterward, there are two nights of revealing at the Lenis Railroad Museum and Depot Complex. The festival has a variety of festive activities for all ages, such as live music, Christmas plays, big wheel races, and a visit from Old Saint Nick himself. 

River fest- July 

The River Fest takes place in July. You can participate in a raft race on the Pecan Bayou. There are usually plenty of chicken ribs, brisket, and beans on the barbecue cook-off. There are also art wares from vendors and a car show. 

Brown County Rodeo-June 

At the Brown County Rodeo, you can enjoy a range of Texan’s best entertainment, including country music, live shows, parades, and lots of folks wearing cowboy hats and boots. If you are in Brown in June, this is an annual event that you cannot afford to miss. It is usually held for three days at the Brown County Fairgrounds
